An overnight ride in the van out to Cleveland
proved to be a test of people's tolerance for the acts of
a drunken idiot. The fact that Mike lived to talk about the
night he didn't even remember, is a testament to how much
the human spirit is willing to withstand (and forgive).
The point of our trip was to see the Sox play
the Indians at the new Jacobs Field, but we did get to walk
through the "Mistake by the Lake" in the middle
of the night. The lights were on and the doors were open as
they were setting up for a moto-cross exhibition (and we were
drunk enough to not care if we got caught). It felt for a
few minutes that we were about to watch the cast and crew
of Major League come out and film another shot inside an almost
empty Municipal Stadium!
Trip Memories:
Pat
-- Mike attempts to cool himself off at 4:00am by throwing
ice water on his face (from the cooler). Unfortunately,
most of it hits my father and Mr Girouard in the front
of the van, and the pool for how long Mike lives is
officially on ...
-- Was it Matt-U or Joey that Jeff nailed with a flying body
block on the way back from our midnight stroll through Municpal?
-- On a scorching hot afternoon, on his way back from
getting some water, Mike is trying to make it easier
for the people in his row by climbing over the row,
instead of making them stand up. Oops, he slips and
ends up falling across a couple of rows of people, throwing
water on everyone, and everybody gets a nice laugh at
his expense
-- After the game on the 17th, we notice a group of
people watching the monitor at the concession stand,
and we hear one guy say "O.J. is in that Bronco!"
- We end up going back to the hotel, and then out in
"The Flats", the whole time watching the LAPD
follow the white Bronco around the streets of LA.
