Driz, Pistol, Crazy, me & Joey prepare
to board the Dodge Silhouette
(Matt & Jeff would join the crew on the road) |
|
Our first voyage to another stadium was to the
Toronto SkyDome in a Dodge Silhouette van. Tim got pulled
over by the state police before we even got out of Massachusetts.
We bought our game tickets from the SkyDome Hotel for $80
each, only to walk by scalpers on our way to the game with
fists full of tickets for $10 a piece. We learned many things
on our first baseball trip, but the most important thing we
learned is that we had to make sure that we made this an ANNUAL
event.
Trip Memories:
Jeff
-- Following Tim across the street trying to walk like the
picture on the light (Right arm-right leg, left arm-left leg)
Matt-U
-- Drinking about 200 LaBatts Blue Ribbons in Toronto. Some in a Gay bar
and some not mind you.
-- The best part of the gay bar (I never thought I would ever say those words
in a sentence) was sitting at the end of the bar and pouring our own drinks from
the tap. Nobody said a word to us. We could probably still be there drinking if
we wanted to.
-- We learned a lot from the Toronto trip for sure but the lesson learned about
where to buy the tickets from was probably the biggest one. $145 for two games. Ouch! That was half of the price of the trip.
Pat
-- Wade Boggs hits a grand slam and the 7 of us went nuts in Section
534
-- Joey pours our own drinks at O'Toole's
- "Hey, why are all of the guys and girls paired up?"
-- When leaving an entertainment establishment,
someone points out a rickshaw with a man pulling the passenger
along at a very rapid pace ... to everyone's amusement,
the group realizes the man is Crazy Mike, and the passenger
is the woman he began speaking with after our dinner earlier
that evening
-- I get to watch some of the game on
Sunday from one of the SkyDome rooms overlooking the field.
As a bonus, the BlueJay mascot realizes we're Sox fans and
I get to punch him in the beak!
-- The family that Mike terrorizes in the elevator
on Saturday night, ends up sitting behind us on Sunday and
of course we talk with them for the entire game
