In 2004 we decided to brave an Arizona July,
so 16 of us set our sites on Phoenix and the Diamondbacks.
We never got to experience the "dry heat" people
talk about, because we managed to be there for the only humid
time of year (so the locals told us) - It was 95° to 115°
with dew points b/w 65° & 75° ALL 4 DAYS we were
there!
We did still manage to have an outstanding time
engaged in various activities around the greater Phoenix area.
Whether it was floating down a river in a tube, riding a Harley
with Bridgey, drilling golf balls on a TPC course, or seeing
how many margaritas Jeff and I could put away, I think it's
safe to say that this is a group that knows how to have fun.
With the exception of the "Minor League
Trip" of 1997, this was our 1st trip with no rookies.
However, that didn't mean that the weekend went without a
beer fine being levied - I felt that Chad's planned silent
departure back to the comforts of his hotel bed on Friday
night warranted the fine. It isn't that I have a problem with
anybody checking out early for the evening - Just have the
sac to tell the group your plans so people aren't saying all
night "What happened to Chad?"
Jeff's Trip Memories:
- Metalhead rocked!
- Matt being lost behind us for the
whole tubing experience
- People throwing marshmallows at each
other while tubing
- Crazy braving the bars and playing
chauffeur
- Patrick throwing out his first beer
fine (I think) against Chad. The only fine of the trip
- Bridgey and Rob renting Harleys
- A stellar round of golf at TPC Scottsdale
- All attempts to hook Matt up at the
bars failed again.
- No one wanted to bring beer tubing
yet we were out after 15 minutes and Bridgey was trading
cigarettes for beverages.
- All the lost clothing on the tubing
experience including my sunglasses and shirt!
- The hotel pool was a balmy 90 degrees!
- Eagle Mountain golf course where you
can slice one off the mountain and into the middle of the
fairway.
- Being mistaken for a softball team
with our purple and grey shirts.
- We hit the only humid week of the Summer!
- The ball park sucked and looked like
an airport hanger.
